Tucker University

Tucker University is an exciting opportunity to help quilters build their skills and accuracy in piecing. We will meet once a month and explore one ruler per session. This program is designed to teach you how to obtain accurage size squares, half squares and much more.
Have you cut your pieces perfectly, only to have them sew together too small or come out wonky? You're posititve you cut right, but something went wrong and you can't figure out what? Then this is the course for you.
There is no pattern for a finished quilt with this course, but you can build a sampler quilt from the units you make if you so choose. If so, please come in for suggested yardage to buy of each fabric to do so.

1-201 V Block Construction

If you are seeing stars in your future then you have just found your new best friend, the V Block. Making stars is not the only thing the V Block can do to improve your piecing techniques. Once you learn how to use the V Block, you will not go back to those plastic templates you have been tracing and slicing. Or connect a V Block with a half square triangle and watch the curves develop. The possibilities are only limited to your imagination.

Push the use of your V Block a bit further by learning how to create Sidekicks and High/low units. You will amaze your quilting friends by thinking that you made a difficult unit, when in fact the use of the V Block made your life so easy.

Required tools: V Block

Basic Sewing Supplies:
Sewing machine with power cords and manual (just in case)
Thread
Machine needles
Snips or trimming scissors
Seam Ripper

Quilting Supplies:
Rotary cutter with a sharp blade
Marking pencil (mechanical will do)
Small cutting mat
Straight edge ruler approx. 6”x12” or so
Invisgrip (optional)
Best Press or light starch (optional)

Fabric Requirements: Fabrics will be cut during class. Therefore, the fabric requirements are healthy amounts so that you can make your own design choices during class. You may even want to use some of your scraps from your last class here.

For course 1-201, we recommend the following yardage:
5/8 to ¾ yard - Focal Fabric
3/8 yard - Background
¼ yard of a coordinating or contrasting fabric with the focal fabric


Class Cancellation Policy:
Thank you for signing up for a class at Ready Set Sew in East Ridge/Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Due to the high number of late-notice cancellations, our cancellation policy has been updated:
In the case that you are unable to attend the class, you must cancel at least 5 days prior to class date for a FULL refund. If you cancel 3-5 days prior to class, there is a 50% forfeiture fee deducted from your class fee. You may choose to transfer to another class if available, with a $20 transfer fee plus additional registration fee if applicable. If you cancel less than 3 days prior to class, your class fee is 100% forfeited. Transfer to another class is not available with less than a 3-day cancellation.
If the class is cancelled by Ready Set Sew, you will have the option of getting your full money back OR transfer the full amount you paid to another class.
